Glass making in Murano

Once in Murano, we were able to watch a demonstration of glass making. It was particularly impressive to see how precise and fast the masters were in their craft. Everyone was impressed, including the kids.

Working on a bull.
Adding the finishing touches.

Making a vase.

Starting with a blob of red-hot molten glass.
Giving it a shape.
Blowing.
Shaping the vase.
Finishing touches.
Making a horse.

Again starting with a blob of molten glass.
Working on the basic shape.
We're starting to recognize a shape.
Some fine details beginning to emerge.
More progress.

The work progresses very quickly.
We can now see clearly what the piece is.
Positioning the back legs.
Making adjustments.
Almost done.
The finished product. From beginning to end in about 5 minutes!
