Roman Emperors

Just because I love Roman history, and also because I had the opportunity of seeing a fabulous collection of busts from most of the Roman Emperors in the Uffizi Gallery.

Julius Caesar. Technically not an emperor, but the Republic ended with him.

Augustus, the first, and perhaps the most important emperor.
Nero, full-blown nut bar. THE standard in bad emperors.

Vespasian, a solid administrator after Nero's total disaster.

Titus, a model emperor who worked to improve the condition of all Romans. Died too young of natural causes.

Nerva, short-lived emperor during an important transitional period.
Trajan, adopted son of Nerva, one of the very good emperors when Rome was at its apogee.
Hadrian, another very good emperor. He loved everything hellenistic, hence the beard...
